Applications of PHPA
In oil exploitation, PHPA polyacrylamide is mainly used for drilling mud as well as Enhanced Oil Recovery, etc., which is widely used in drilling, completion, cementing,fracturing, enhanced oil recovery and other mining operations in the oil field
For shale stability and encapsulation, a concentration of 1.0 to 4.0 qt/bbl (0.6 - 2.4 l/m³) of PHPA A1920 is normally required. PHPA A1920 may be added directly to the surface of a well agitated mixing or suction pit. Additions through the chemical hopper may cause foaming or aeration of the mud.
When using PHPA A1920 as a flocculant, treatment requirements should be pilot tested, but will generally be less than 0.3 qt/bbl. As a flocculant, the product should be added as a water solution, into the flowline, upstream end of the reserve or settling pit, or to the centrifuge diluent water.
Handling
Employees should utilize normal precautions when handling chemical products. The use of a face shield or chemical goggles, chemical gloves and apron are recommended when handling this product. In case of eye contact, flush with clean fresh water for 15 minutes and seek medical advice. In case of skin contact, remove contaminated clothing and launder before reuse, wash the effected area with soap & water. Review the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product prior to use.
Storage
Store in closed containers, at ambient temperatures, in a ventilated area, protected from precipitation. Long term outside storage should be avoided to prevent deterioration of package and labeling.
